Nowadays, they say that money makes the world go round. There is nothing that money can’t buy. Everything in this world requires money. For some instances, if you want to travel from a certain place, you need money. If you want something to eat, you need money. If you need any kind of product, supply, or any kind of services, you need money. In short, money is what makes everything works and without it everything in life would stop or not work.
But did you know that there are thing that money cannot buy and money is not the basis for success. And sometimes, great riches come with great responsibilities and some of them brings along stress which could be fatal. There are a lot of cases where financial loss, dropping shares, takeovers, loss of jobs, or personal problems has forced some RICH men to end their lives and even worse, Rei Jane Huaui, Peter Smedley, Wayne Pai, and Paul Castle to mention some.
All the mentioned people are rich people yet they have their different issues. It just shows that there are things that money can’t buy, and money is not a basis for success.
Happiness
They say happiness is the main force driving in our life and surely, everybody wants to be happy. To study, have a good job, earn money, get married and be happy. It’s what all of us seek. But do you know that true happiness is often found in little things that are way beyond to be bought using money. Maybe a smile from a stranger, a giggle from a new born, a hug from your best friend, or a kiss from your lover. See, you cannot buy these things with money yet they make you happy much more than money.
Time
According to Gloria Tesch “Time is the most precious gift you can give to someone, because if you give someone your time, it’s a part of your life that you can never get back”. Yes, it’s true. Once it’s gone, you can’t bring it back. You may be the richest person on the planet, but your money can’t bring back the bygone time. The moment which you skipped on spending with the important people in your life just because you’re too busy with work will never return. You can’t bring back time nor buy it. And time machines are not available yet in the market.
Inner Peace/Peace of Mind
A person may have millions and billions of money in the bank. But what will you do with it if you don’t have a peace of mind? This cannot be bought by money. When one accepts everything that life has to offer and is able to find some positivity out of the most negative situations that is where you can find inner peace. In fact, many times money is the reason why we lose our sense of inner peace. We keep stressing upon how to earn it, save it, increase it, or spend it.
A Healthy/Happy Family
This is one of the most important, a person should have. A happy family comes out as a healthy family. A cold and detached family is what nobody likes to have. And even if you’re the richest man on the planet, you can never buy the closeness and the intimacy which is supposed to be there among family members. You can only have this by spending some time with your family and sharing significant as well as trivial things with each other.
Tender Loving Care (TLC)
Love is one thing that everyone wants on their life. Almost everybody wants to feel special, blessed, and well, LOVED. An individual never intend or plan to fall in love with someone, it just come. It just happens. You cannot make someone fall in love with you. And surely, you can never buy a person to love you. One’s riches do flatter others and can buy them infatuation or lust but no one wants that kind of love, right? A person’s love is way beyond money.
Good Friends
Having good friends can help you in anything. They will support you with everything especially on your down side moments. And having good friends can make your world a beautiful place to live in. What’s the point of having the coolest car in your school or having fancy thing or nice, when you’re not making good friends? People are always attracted to anyone who is rich but that’s just money. A true friendship doesn’t come with price tags.
Health
What the point of having all the money in the world when you are sick? Yes, you can buy all the most expensive and most advance treatment; you can even buy expensive medicines, or even have a full time nurse but good health? NO! Health has more to do with your lifestyle. There are people who keep on working to earn money but because of this they tend to ignore their health. So what’s the point of being rich, when you’re in the hospital bed but not a healthy body to spend them?
Satisfaction of Fulfilling Dreams
For Many people, their greatest dream is to earn a lot of money. All of us have their own dream upon growing up. Some of us want to be a doctor, a lawyer, a pilot, an engineer, a musician, or maybe a photographer. It can be anything you have dreamt about. You work day and night, and against all odds. But once you get there. Once you reached your dream, the thrill and satisfaction you get after seeing those dreams getting fulfilled is no match with a huge bank of cash.
Respect
Being respected by anyone brings a feeling of positivity and a sense of confidence. Every one of us wants to be respected. Respect from family, friends, workplace, and among the society. One can earn respect by working hard and being a noble person and respect cannot be bought by money. A true respect from the heart cannot be bought but only earned.
Knowledge and Experience
You may have graduated and earned a degree from the most expensive school in the world but the sky soaring fee you have paid doesn’t ensure to widen up your knowledge or provide you experience about many worldly matters. A person can be wiser and more experienced than you, which is an advantage to him to grow ahead in his career, where your fancy degree and money won’t work. For knowledge, wisdom and experience cannot be bought but just acquired with time and effort.
These are the things that money can’t buy. Sometimes success can be seen on what is inside a person not on what he has materially. Life is just not about money. It’s about the things that make you who you are as a human being; it’s about finding true happiness.
