Preserving the Person in the Emerging Kingdom of Technological Force

What does Iceland look like through Google Glass? Turns out it looks kind of like Iceland. Consider this stunning set of photographs showcasing a tool built by Silica Labs which allows users to post images from Glass directly onto their WordPress blog. If you click over to see the images, you’ll notice two things. First, you’ll see that Iceland is beautiful, something you may already have known. Secondly, you’ll see that pictures taken with Glass look, well, just like pictures not taken with Glass.

There’s one exception to that second observation. When the user’s hands appear in the frame, the POV perspective becomes evident. Apart from that, these great pictures look just like every other set of great pictures. This isn’t a knock on the tool developed by Silica Labs, by the way. I’m not really interested in that particular app. I’m interested in the appeal of Glass and how…

Game of Thrones Season 5 Will Feature Show’s First Flashback Scenes

TIME

Game of Thrones fans wondering what Westeros was like before Ned left the North will get a treat this season. Season five will feature the HBO show’s first-ever flashback scenes, according toEntertainment Weekly.

Apparently show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had set a rule their first season not to include any prophecies, dreams or flashbacks. “We failed the first two and this season the third,” they told film students at a Q&A in Spain where they are currently shooting portions of the show. “So yes, this season will finally have flashbacks.”

No word yet and what exactly the flashback will be or which characters it will include.

“We’re living at a time when attention is the new currency: With hundreds of TV channels, billions of Web sites, podcasts, radio shows, music downloads and social networking, our attention is more fragmented than ever before. Those who insert themselves into as many channels as possible look set to capture the most value. They’ll be the richest, the most successful, the most connected, capable and influential among us. We’re all publishers now, and the more we publish, the more valuable connections we’ll make. Have you ever built an “ARK”? An Act of Random Kindness

We are living in a pitiful world. Poverty, hunger, spread of diseases, terrorism, and rumors of war are what we are facing right now. There are many people who experiences poverty, especially those people in the third-world countries. You know, poverty leads to hunger and hunger leads to spread of diseases. In another part, terrorism leads to war. Now you’re thinking or maybe you’re asking. What is the connection of this to my title? Keep on reading! But if you want to go and felt bored about this, you are free to leave.

To continue, because of the problem that the world has, we feel less secure, and we keep on thinking that there are no good people left. You may think that maybe yes, there are still good people but I’m sure you’ll say that they are hard to find. But you know what? A person can find kindness to people if you just simply look at them hard enough. For me, there is no such a thing as bad people. Everyone has kindness inside them.

Well, if you think all the people around you are bad and have been corrupted by evil, why don’t you change your mindset? Why not try to look for their good side instead of their bad side? Or maybe just start with yourself. Try showing kindness to anyone by simply helping others. Like maybe, if you see an old lady crossing the street, why not try to help her? Or just simply smile to a stranger. You see my point? If we keep doing this maybe we as an individual can leave an impact to a certain person. With a simple gesture and a simple act of kindness, we can change the world. You’ll never know that maybe you have been the reason why this we call pitiful world has been a beautiful world.

As I end this article, I want you guys to watch these two inspiring films. I hope you’ll be inspired too.

This short video is about a guy who helped a thief, see what happens next.

The next video is about a guy who has been kind to others, be inspired with his story.

Have you been inspired by these videos? There are still people like this and this could be you. Again, before I end this, I would like to ask you. Have you ever built an ARK?

How to stop smoking and do something else with your hands

I’m trying to quit smoking but I can’t. It’s hard. I am a writer and being a writer is stressful. But your article is inspiring! 🙂 I’ll really try to quit!

I drop to my knees, ejaculating on the planks of my fortune, and exhale. I am breathing again, alive, electrified roots singing, man, singing, man, sweet angel of merciless shock, singing, this is better than anything, take everything, everything I have, everything I am, just do not touch this moment of bliss.

I was in my early twenties, a blooming writer with an oral fixation. After sexing up the page with a literary ode to the nicotine fix coupled with the rigours of a coughing fit, it hit me that it was time for me to get smart, off my knees, and while still young, my fellow smokers, try to quit.

gauloise-caporal-937077925_MLLater that evening, I was deep-throating a Gauloise in the park, contemplating the masterpiece I had yet to write, when my pal Mark told me he’d jump into the freezing pond if I would dump my snotty French cigs forever that very moment, that…

Am I Too Young To Be So Bitter?

Great article! Reminds me of the days when I was looking for a job after my college graduation. Kudos!

Am I Thirty Yet

the internship owen wilson

A few weeks ago I went to my friend’s graduation. I’m one of those people who tends to cry at everything. I can’t even watch 95% of the commercials they air these days without a box of tissues on hand. So I warned my friend that I’m probably going to tear up at some point during the ceremony. Graduations can be an emotional thing and I just knew one of those speeches was going to get to me.

I couldn’t have been more wrong. Sadness was the last thing on my mind. If I was going to tear up, it would have been from laughing so hard. I laughed at most of the speeches. It was either I laugh or scream with rage. Anger. That’s the emotion I felt the most during the graduation ceremony.

I graduated from college over four years ago. I owe a ton of money from student loans…
